At-a-glance scorecard

Relative fit for long-horizon knowledge work
XESO0.0/109.1/10
Granola0.0/108.2/10
  • Meetings, PDFs, links, voice, and bulk imports from your machine in one library
  • Cited answers across historical notes, not just latest transcript
  • Segment-scoped retrieval for project-specific decisions

criteria verified 2026-06 — public docs + hands-on runs

Where Granola wins

Granola is a beautifully opinionated meeting notetaker — in-meeting capture, structured follow-ups, and clean transcripts. If you live in Zoom and your job is meetings, it's the best in class.

Where XESO wins

One library for every input — and answers that name their source, not a transcript you scroll.

How XESO grounds answers — the citation floor

XESO answers only from passages it can cite. When a question’s retrieval falls below the citation floor, it says so — “I don’t have enough in your library to answer that” — instead of guessing. Every answer it does give links back to the exact saved note behind each claim.
  • One library for every input. Meeting notes live beside PDFs, articles, voice memos, and your own thoughts — not in a separate silo.
  • Citation-grounded chat across the whole library, a topic, or a single note.
  • Persistent folders. Group “Q2 customer calls” and ask questions over just those — without exporting transcripts by hand.
  • No transcript graveyard. Saved answers become notes. Notes become context for next week's answers.
  • Export notes in Markdown and JSON — bring your own notetaker back if you change your mind.

Question: What did we decide about the Q3 strategy?

XESO

The Q3 strategy prioritised library-first retention: shipping bulk import before paid features, per the decision log saved on 2026-04-12.

Q3 strategy decision log

Ship bulk import before any paid wall — library retention is the leading indicator.

Granola

Granola would search your recent meeting transcripts for mentions of 'Q3 strategy'. It would return verbatim segments but would not link back to a persistent note or summarise across multiple meetings.

Granola answers are limited to current-session transcripts; older meetings require manual retrieval.

How we score

Give your meetings a place to live

Import a few transcripts, then ask about them next week — the answer comes back with citations to the exact line.
