Getting started
How do I create my first notes?
Use Capture from the nav, the + button on desktop, or long-press Capture on mobile for a blank note. ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+C opens Capture; ⌘/Ctrl+N creates a blank note (see Settings → Keyboard). Paste and voice default to saving your words as entered — turn on Structure with AI in Capture when you want summaries. Import links always fetch the page first. Drop files, forward email where supported, or use Settings → Import for bulk uploads. New notes appear instantly and are searchable within a few seconds once indexing finishes.
What can I chat with XESO about?
Chat works on your notes, a single note, or any text you've selected. Every answer is grounded in real citations — if a question isn't answerable from your library, XESO will tell you rather than guess.
What file types can I ingest?
URLs (including YouTube), PDFs, plain text, Markdown, Word and HTML, audio, CSV/spreadsheets, and more — depending on plan. Use Capture → Upload, drag files into the app, or Settings → Import for bulk jobs. Pro unlocks the broadest universal import set. Duplicate detection helps you avoid re-importing the same source twice.
Where do imports and capture live in the app?
Capture (Import link, paste, voice, upload) is the fastest path for one-off saves. Paste and voice save verbatim by default; Structure with AI is opt-in and uses your daily AI budget. Settings → Import and Library actions handle bulk library imports. Blank notes are available from Capture, empty library states, and keyboard shortcuts when enabled — capture files into the folder you're viewing when possible.
Privacy & security
Is my data used to train AI?
No. Your notes, prompts, and chat history are never used to train XESO's models. BYOK routes traffic directly to the provider (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) with no training unless you explicitly opt in.
What's the Vault?
A per-note toggle that excludes a note from chat, analytics, digests, MCP tools, and share links. Vaulted notes require a temporary unlock token to read or edit.
How do I export or delete my data?
Settings -> Privacy -> Export downloads a Zip of every note. Delete account starts immediately after the undo window, revokes sessions, removes user rows and encrypted credential records, and then provider-managed backups age out under the retention policy.
Where is my data stored?
US-Central Google Cloud by default. EU residency is available on request for Enterprise customers.
Billing
How do I start a trial?
Every account includes 14 days of Pro at signup with no card. When you are ready to keep Pro, open Settings → Billing or the in-app upgrade flow and subscribe. Founding member ($12/mo locked) is available from pricing while seats remain.
Can I switch plans or seats?
Yes — Settings → Billing lets you change plans and (on Team) add or remove seats. Charges are prorated.
Where can I get an invoice?
Settings → Billing → Invoices shows every charge as a downloadable PDF, powered by Stripe.
Troubleshooting
A note imported empty or with wrong content.
Some sites block automated fetches. Try re-importing, or paste the content directly. If it still fails, email support@xeso.ai with the source URL.
Chat says it can't find an answer in my library.
XESO is strict about grounding — if your notes don't contain the answer it won't make one up. Try narrowing the scope (single note, selection, or folder), or add a source that contains the answer.
The app feels slow on a specific page.
Check /status for a live subsystem health view. If everything there is green, email support@xeso.ai with the URL and a rough time — we have RUM instrumentation and can find the exact regression.
